What
about the land the building will be on?
Purchasing new
land can be a tricky process. Many times a church will buy land that
is useless because they can get a "bargain." Don't be fooled,
that bargain could cost your church more in the long run. Look for
the following things in a site before you purchase:
-
Accessibility
to the site
-
Visibility
-
Proximity
to current congregation
-
Proximity
to prospective members (growth areas)
-
Zoning
restrictions may need to be avoided.
-
Environmental
restrictions (wetlands, wildlife refuges, national forests, etc.)
-
Soil
conditions
-
Septic
system requirements (if sewer is not available)
-
Natural
restrictions that should be avoided (radical grade, rock, high water
table, flood zones, etc.)
You
may view a presentation online on purchasing land, or you may download
the presentation for use at a later date without being online.
